Volunteering

If you have never volunteered before, you may be puzzled why 65 million Americans volunteer 8 billion hours a year for free or why individuals and not corporations make 85% of all contributions to nonprofits.   They do it because, unlike a job, you can do what you want to, when you want to.   You meet interesting and friendly people.   If you're a new or soon-to-be graduate, volunteering can build your confidence and add valuable experience and skills to your resume.   Volunteering often leads to employment.   The big secret to volunteering is feeling good about helping people worse off than you.   How do you feel when somebody is there to help?   So get out of the house, have some fun, improve your community and enrich your own life.   Contact the AHA Volunteer Coordinator at 480-234-5070.
